The venue
The venue is a large estate dominated by a late 15th century villa, bought in 1904 by the current family’s ancestors as a hunting estate. Presently covering well over 1.000 hectares, with olive groves, vineyards, woodland, rivers and arable farming land, the estate enjoys stunning views, a quiet secluded setting, and experience in hospitality. Under the current owners, the Giannuzzi Savelli family, the estate continues to be a working estate, and aside from cereal crops, produces a range of other products including extra virgin olive oil, fruit and prosciutto.
The Borgo is also a new location for weddings and events, offering both a pretty 18th century consecrated church and several locations for events, including a smart courtyard surrounding a decorative well, two gardens, two swimming pools and a large indoor space. There is also a large, working, wood-burning traditional oven ideal for pizza, meats and vegetables.
The venue is famed for both its beauty and views, looking over the Ombrone Valley, the rolling Tuscan hills and in the background towards the looming extinct volcano, Monte Amiata. For many years, guests have rented the properties, from large villas to small cottage apartments on the estate, and it can offer up to 50 bed places.
The estate is in the secluded middle of a large private estate, yet it is easily accessible, being only a 7 minute drive to Paganico and the Florence-Siena-Grosseto highway; 25 mins from Grosseto, 40 mins from Siena, 1.20mins from Florence, and about 2 hours from Pisa and Rome. These towns are also easily reached also by bus and train.
